    Risperidone is a benzisoxazole derivative with serotonergic and dopaminergic receptor antagonist  properties. The drug has been used clinically since 1990 as an antipsychotic agent. It is supplied as  the free base in 0.25-6 mg tablets and a 1 mg/mLsolution for oral administration; daily oral dose for  adults usually range from 2-6 mg. Adverse reactions include dizziness, somnolence, nausea,  orthostatic hypotension, anxiety, headache and extrapyramidal symptoms. A single labeled oral  risperidone dose is eliminated in urine (70%) and feces (14%) over a one week period.
